BPI skid charger slides into mining

The Mining industry has always had problems with environmental friendliness and noise pollution for workers. Solutions had to be sought out to reduce carbon emissions and noise reduction for a safer workplace.

One of these solutions, that addressed both issues was electrical vehicle conversion. BPI has directly contributed to this in the past, today we want to shed some light on another contribution that might assist in any future electrical vehicle conversions made by any other mining partner or company.

In the past, noise pollution and carbon emissions were significant issues caused by traditional vehicles. Today, with the development of electric vehicle chargers like the ones we build, the landscape is changing. The brilliant engineers and workers at BPI built two 160KW skid chargers for Ivanplats mine. We are proud of this contribution not just because our chargers meet the industry’s top standards, but also because we are contributing towards a zero-emissions mining industry and assisting in noise reduction at the mine.

As Electric vehicles roll into the mining industry along comes our chargers, ready for a fast, safe, and affordable charging infrastructure. A CCS type charger for AC and DC, making it more cost-effective. Our 3-phase charger has two charging posts that can charge up to 90KW each or 160KW if the other post is not in use. The machine can charge any electric vehicle from 0 to 100 within an hour. Our charger includes a stepdown transformer that can bring 1000V down to 500V..

All these specifications are very nice, but we took safety seriously while designing the system. The Charger has an in-built fault detection system that trips the charger once it detects an electrical fault on the vehicle or the charger. One can imagine how this would limit damages and life risks.

These Chargers help reduce the carbon emissions footprint by providing a safe and cost-effective infrastructure for electric vehicles, further motivating the development of electric vehicles. With this motive, the use of diesel engines will reduce and thus the reduction in noise pollution.  This also means the complete elimination of fuel-based infrastructure for diesel vehicles at the mines.

We at BPI are proud of our contribution to a zero-emission mining industry, and with our two skid chargers already delivered at Ivanplats, the industry is one step closer to this future.
